Big Bang (proper spelling: BIG BANG and BIGBANG) is a South Korean boy group of the second K-pop generation, consisting of three members, which was founded in 2006 by the label YG Entertainment. The group consists of G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung. Seungri left the group in March 2019 following a scandal. T.O.P left YG Entertainment and Big Bang in April 2022.
In 2011, they won an MTV Europe Music Award for Best Worldwide Act. In 2012 Big Bang gave their first concert in the USA and in 2015 they started their big MADE World Tour.
Even before their debut, some of the band members were already active in the entertainment industry. G-Dragon and Taeyang were the first to train under YG Entertainment at the age of eleven. After hearing about YG Entertainment's plans to form a boy group, G-Dragon contacted his old friend T.O.P who was active as the rapper Tempo at the time. Seungri made his first television appearance in the series Let's Cokeplay: Mnet Battle Shinhwa, in which Shinhwa was looking for members for a “second Shinwha”. Big Bang originally had six members and its development was documented in a TV series. In the end, only five members remained; Hyun-seung had to leave the group.
Big Bang debuted on August 19, 2006 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena during the YG Family 10th Year Concert. Shortly after, Big Bang's first EP Bigbang was released, selling over 40,000 copies.
